DNFT or Directional Non-Force Technique is a gentle chiropractic technique used to correct spinal mis-alignments. It’s safe and effective for people of all ages. There is no turning or twisting of the neck or back, and no “cracking” or “popping” sounds. It is an excellent treatment for children, older people with spinal stenosis or arthritis, athletes, or anyone who prefers a gentle approach to chiropractic pain relief.
DNFT was developed by Dr. Richard VanRumpt in 1923. He found that a low force approach could be an effective alternative to the more forceful methods taught in chiropractic schools at that time.
On the first visit, a comprehensive consultation, history, and exam is performed, along with a DNFT exam. A series of tests or challenges are performed which allows the body itself to indicate an irritation of a nerve, and misaligned structures. A low force, specific thumb impulse correction is then administered.
